The second opportunity for improvement is with the
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources which is developing a plan
for helping young white pines survive. The plan includes
preparing good seed beds around existing trees, planting where seed
trees are missing, and taking care of the seedlings by doing things
like bud-capping them to protect against deer browsing in winter, but
funding for the plan is in jeopardy. |
