Earlier this century, Minnesota had beautiful forests of
yellow birch, also called silver birch. These were the
largest and most valuable hardwoods in our northern forests.
People watched quietly and trustingly as foresters allowed
the silver birch forests to be cut and the silver birch
industry to disappear.
