The third area that needs action also involves the Minnesota
Department of Natural Resources and certain counties that
plan to go on cutting white pines on public land without
determining that the cutting would be sustainable.
Thirty-eight percent of our white pines are on lands
administered by those agencies. Let the State Forester and
your County Land Commissioners know that 98 percent loss of
this resource is enough. Ask them what they will do to
assure sustainable management of the public's white pines.
